Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the Parallel Notes mobile application (the "Service") operated by Parallel Notes ("us", "we", or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the Service.
1. Service Description
Parallel Notes is an AI-powered productivity assistant that records, transcribes, and generates structured summaries from your audio. You have full control over your data.
A. Transcription
- 100% On-Device: Audio is transcribed entirely on your iPhone. No audio or text leaves your device during transcription.
B. Summary Generation
- Cloud AI Cowriter: Summaries are generated via secure cloud-based AI models (Google Cloud Vertex AI). Transcripts are processed entirely in memory and are never written to disk or retained beyond the moment of generation.
Note: In all cases, your final recordings, transcripts, and notes are stored securely in your personal iCloud, not on our servers.
2. Accounts & Identification
Parallel Notes does not require a traditional account or email sign-in. To provide a seamless experience, we generate a random unique identifier (UUID) that is securely stored in your personal iCloud Keychain. This identifier is used to:
- Manage your subscription tier and usage quotas
- Maintain consistent access across your devices via iCloud sync
- Link diagnostic and usage metadata for service optimization
We maintain two identifiers: (1) your random account UUID for quota tracking, and (2) an anonymous transaction identifier for purchase verification. Your recordings, transcripts, and notes are stored locally on your device or in your personal iCloud account—not on our servers. You are responsible for maintaining access to your device and iCloud account to retain your content history.
Account Deletion: You may delete your account at any time through the app settings. Account deletion will permanently remove all server-side data associated with your account (including your account UUID, usage logs, and metadata) within 30 days. Your recordings, transcripts, and notes stored in your personal iCloud account remain under your control and are not affected by account deletion on our servers.
3. Subscriptions & Payments
Premium features are available via auto-renewing subscriptions managed by Apple.
- Tiers: Features are available via free and paid tiers. We reserve the right to modify usage quotas or transfer features between tiers to ensure service stability.
- Trials: Free trials automatically renew into a paid subscription unless canceled via your App Store account at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
- Billing & Management: All payments and subscriptions are handled exclusively by Apple. We cannot access your payment methods or cancel subscriptions on your behalf.
- Refunds: Refund policies are dictated by Apple. All requests must be submitted directly to Apple Support.
4. AI Transparency & Responsibility
In compliance with global AI regulations (including the EU AI Act), please note:
- AI-Generated Output: All transcripts and notes are generated by Artificial Intelligence. While highly sophisticated, these models can occasionally produce inaccurate results (known as "hallucinations").
- User as Final Reviewer: The Service is a productivity assistant, not a definitive record. You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of all output against the original audio before use.
- Acceptable Reliance: Parallel Notes shall not be held liable for any errors or omissions in AI-generated content or any actions taken based on such content.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Record conversations without the consent of all parties, where prohibited by law.
- Process illegal, harmful, or abusive content.
- Reverse engineer or attempt to exploit the API.
We reserve the right to block access to our API for any user violating these terms.
6. Intellectual Property
- Your Content: You retain full ownership of your recordings, transcripts, and notes ("User Content"). We claim no ownership over your data.
- Our IP: The Service's interface, code, and branding are the exclusive property of Parallel Notes.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. We specifically disclaim any liability for potential inaccuracies in AI-generated content.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Parallel Notes shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including loss of data or recordings.
9. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Any edits will be posted to our website and within the App. We recommend reviewing these Terms periodically to stay informed. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
